Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Giovanni Reyna is in talks with Racing Strasbourg over a potential move. According to reports from The Athletic and Sky, both sides are in discussions, with Gladbach open to either a permanent sale or a loan for the 23-year-old US international. In the 2025/26 season, where Gladbach finished 14th in the Bundesliga with 30 points (7 wins, 9 draws, 13 losses), Reyna started just five times.
Why is Reyna leaving Gladbach?
Reyna joined Gladbach from Borussia Dortmund in summer 2025 for €4 million, aiming to revive his career. However, with only 577 minutes played across 20 appearances and two goal contributions, the attacking midfielder struggled for impact. Injuries and competition from Wael Mohya and Kevin Stöger limited his opportunities. His market value has dropped from a peak of €42 million in 2021 to €4 million today.

At Strasbourg, Reyna would compete for minutes primarily with Julio Enciso.
