Borussia Mönchengladbach confirms Tim Kleindienst as captain. The 30-year-old Kleindienst was appointed captain before the 2025/26 season, but missed almost the entire season due to a knee injury. Nico Elvedi takes over as vice-captain, replacing Rocco Reitz, who moved to RB Leipzig. Coach Eugen Polanski confirmed this at the end of the training camp at Tegernsee. "The team council will be formed by Nico Elvedi, Philipp Sander, Kevin Diks and Moritz Nicolas. They are the ones who will lead the way and pull the ship. They will help the team and come to me with suggestions."

Together with new signing Isac Lidberg, the striker will not only lead the Gladbach as a loudspeaker, but also as a goal-scorer. After the end of the loan of top scorer Haris Tabakovic, there is again a need for goal-scoring power in the Niederrhein region. Lidberg, who came from Darmstadt in the summer, sparked hopes with his four assists in the 4-1 test match victory against TSG Hoffenheim that he could close this gap together with his new and old captain.

Borussia Mönchengladbach currently occupies 12th place in the Bundesliga with 38 points. The Foals have 9 wins, 11 draws and 14 losses in 34 games. Last season, they were 51 points behind Bayern Munich. In their last match, they defeated Hoffenheim 4-0.

Currently, Fabio Chiarodia and Yukhym Konoplya are injured.
