Gladbach's new signings make debut in friendly against Wuppertaler SV
Gladbach's six new players had the chance to make their debut in the club's jersey for the first time. In a friendly against Oberliga side Wuppertaler SV (6:0), coach Eugen Polanski gave each of them playing time. Only Japanese player Zento Uno (22) was missing due to an ankle injury. Gladbach currently sits in 12th place in the Bundesliga with 0 points (0 goals scored, 0 conceded).
How did the new signings perform?
Enzo Leopold (25) showed great engagement in central midfield and played some strong passes. The former Hannover 96 player worked well alongside Kevin Stöger (32) and covered a lot of ground.
Isac Lidberg (27) was very present and didn't shy away from any duel. Despite a good chance, he failed to score. Instead, he messed up a cross for youngster Fritz Fleck (18).
Daniel Batz (35) replaced Moritz Nicolas (28) in the second half. The goalkeeper looked secure and proved he can also play good football from the back.
What does this mean for the season?
The debut of the new signings was a first success. Especially the young players like Jan Leszczynski (19) and David Herold (23) made a positive impression. With the current league position (12th place, 0 points), every win is important.
What's next?
Gladbach will continue to work on integrating the new signings in the coming weeks. Especially Yukhym Konoplia (27) and Isac Lidberg (27) need more playing time. The team still has time to prepare for the Bundesliga season.
