Gladbach's defense chief Nico Elvedi is on the verge of a possible transfer to Leeds United. The Swiss wants to join the Premier League and Leeds is offering eight million euros. Elvedi has been playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach for eleven years and has become a constant in the defense center. However, the 29-year-old apparently dreams of the Premier League. Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers have tried to sign Elvedi in the past, but the transfer has not yet been completed. Daniel Farke, the former Gladbach coach, now wants to bring Elvedi to Leeds. Farke and Elvedi know each other well, the 49-year-old was on the sidelines in Gladbach in the 2022/23 season. Elvedi missed only one compulsory game in the past season, and that was due to a yellow card suspension. The Swiss moved to Gladbach from FC Zurich in the summer of 2015 for four million euros. Elvedi played for FCZ for a total of nine years. Leeds now wants to sign Elvedi for eight million euros, but Gladbach's sports director Rouven Schröder finds the offer too low. Elvedi's contract expires in 2027, so Gladbach may have the last chance to make a lot of money from the Swiss this summer. Elvedi himself did not fully commit to his Borussia after the past season. 'I know what I have in Gladbach after over ten years, the club is my home. But you know what can happen in football', said Elvedi. Maybe the Gladbach fans have already seen Elvedi's last game in the 'Fohlen' jersey. Another departure is already certain at Borussia Mönchengladbach. A defensive colleague of Elvedi is moving to a Bundesliga club.
