Borussia Mönchengladbach has confirmed the departure of striker Nathan Ngoumou to OGC Nizza. The 26-year-old leaves the Bundesliga after four years due to injuries that limited his playing time in the previous season. Ngoumou was sidelined by an Achilles tendon rupture in April 2025 and could not participate in any matches. 'Nathan comes from a long-term injury and needs time and playing time to regain his former performance level,' said Gladbach's sports director Rouven Schröder. The 26-year-old joined Gladbach from FC Toulouse in 2022 and played 78 competitive games with nine goals.
Ngoumou's departure follows the signing of Giannis Konstantelias and intensified transfer activities in the summer. The striker was often affected by injuries in the previous season and could only play ten games. His stay at Gladbach was no longer possible due to competition pressures. The transfer to OGC Nizza is seen as a sporting step to continue his rehabilitation. The French top club is paying for the transfer, which is reportedly in the triple-digit millions. Ngoumou will thus leave the Bundesliga and face new challenges in France.
