Borussia Mönchengladbach loses another top earner from the salary list. Goalkeeper Jonas Omlin returns to Swiss former champion FC Basel after a disappointing year in the German Football League. The 32-year-old had not played a single match for his parent club Borussia Mönchengladbach or his loan station Bayer Leverkusen in the previous season. At Borussia, another top earner is leaving the salary list, with no transfer fee flowing according to Sky information. In Basel, the former Swiss national goalkeeper had already guarded the goal from 2018 to 2020, and now signed there for three years. "I'm very happy to return with a full backpack of experience", he was quoted in a statement. Omlin was transferred from French top-flight club HSC Montpellier to Borussia in January 2023 for nine million euros and later took over as captain from Lars Stindl. He lost his starting position, however, due to his many injuries to Moritz Nicolas.
