Gladbach's homegrown talent Jan Olschowsky was forced to end his Aachen debut prematurely. The 23-year-old suffered a concussion and was replaced by Marcel Johnen in the 2nd half.
What happened?
Jan Olschowsky was loaned out to third-tier side Alemannia Aachen until the end of the season in early January. In the preparation, Olschowsky prevailed against competitor Marcel Johnen and stood on Sunday at the start of the 3rd league in the new year in front of 31,580 fans against RW Essen (2:0) in the box.
Why is this important for Gladbach?
Gladbach manager Roland Virkus (58) had explained in early January why the club is very interested in this loan deal. The Gladbach manager: „Jan is a young goalkeeper. For him, it's now important that he gets game practice at a high sporting level. We hope to achieve this through the loan to Alemannia Aachen.“
What comes next?
Olschowsky could then, with plenty of competitive practice in the 3rd league, become the new challenger in the Bundesliga to Moritz Nicolas. The next step could then be in the coming season at Borussia – where the keeper still has a contract until 2027.
