Borussia Mönchengladbach has announced an increase in membership fees effective from 1 January 2027. This is the first adjustment in 25 years and affects over 111,000 members of the Bundesliga club.
The annual fee for adult members will rise from €60 to €72. For youths aged 12 to 17, the fee increases from €40 to €48. The charge for children aged 8 to 11 remains unchanged at €30. Existing memberships for children under seven stay free, while new memberships for this age group will incur an annual fee of €12. The club anticipates over one million euros in additional annual revenue. According to a report by Bild Sport, the club justifies the increase due to rising costs, elaborate member talks, and exclusive member activities.
What changes for members?
Alongside the fee adjustments, the printed club magazine 'FohlenEcho' will no longer be sent automatically by post. It will only be available digitally in the official Fohlen-App going forward. Members who wish to continue receiving the printed version can register for it and will pay three euros per issue. The club had already expanded member benefits in recent years. The fee hike after a quarter-century now represents the next step in adjusting the membership structure.
What other innovations are there at Borussia-Park?
Parallel to the membership news, the club has implemented several changes at its stadium, the ista-Borussia-Park. For the new season, seating block 2 was converted into a standing area. This increased the arena's total capacity by approximately 900 seats to 54,909. New LED screens were installed on the stadium façades. The VIP area was completely rebuilt and modernised. In the east and south sections, new, modern turnstiles aim to speed up entry for visitors. Prices at the stadium kiosks, however, remain unchanged.
What is the current sporting situation?
These off-field developments occur against the backdrop of a difficult start to the season. Gladbach sits in 16th place in the Bundesliga table with zero points after the first matchday. The record shows one loss with zero wins and zero draws. The goal difference of minus three results from three goals conceded and no goals scored. In the table, the gap to leaders Bayern Munich is already three points. The next opportunity to gain points comes on 5 September 2026 with a home match against SV Elversberg.
